Michael Wong is the Head of Survey and BIM Manager at Leighton Contractors (Asia) Limited, with 30 years of leadership in Hong Kong’s surveying and construction industry. He has managed survey operations for more than 20 major infrastructure projects, including developments at the Hong Kong International Airport, the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge – Hong Kong Boundary Crossing Facilities, XRL West Kowloon Station, the East Kowloon Cultural Centre, and several large-scale railway projects. He is currently responsible for the surveying and BIM strategy of the North District Hospital Expansion Project.

Michael is widely recognised as a pioneer in applying BIM to civil infrastructure. He led Hong Kong’s first comprehensive BIM implementation on the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge BCF project, which received an international BIM award in 2017. His work integrates advanced technologies such as laser scanning, drone surveying, and 3D reality modelling to enhance spatial accuracy, digital coordination, and project delivery.

Dedicated to advancing Civil Engineering Surveying and promoting openBIM standards, Michael contributes actively to HKABAEIMA and buildingSMART Hong Kong. He previously served as Chairman of the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (Hong Kong Region). He is a Registered Professional Surveyor (Land Surveying), a CIC Certified BIM Manager, a Professional Member of HKIQEP, a Fellow of HKIS, HKIES, and CICES, and a Member of RICS.
